after hurricane maria, we have been working to bring disaster-relief to the Deaf/HH Community in Puerto Rico
CURRENT FOCUS: MISSION 6
We have entered Hurricane Season once again—although we still have not recovered from last year’s disaster... and it won’t take a hurricane, but a tropical storm for the bandaids to come flying off electrical poles in Puerto Rico. Recently released reports are estimating that there may be as many as 8,000 lives lost from Hurricane Maria.
Since last October, our team has supplied the Deaf/HH in over two dozen regions of the island with light and water filtration. On foot and person-to-person is how we have found them. We started as First Responders supported by an aggressive community of donors, we then partnered with @rocksteadyforlife, @wavesforwater, @harper4humanity, @mpowerdinc on the ground and with love from @redbull. With the recent @shoshannah7 *All You Need Is Love* campaign and the incredible contribution made by @randomactsorg, we are equipped to respond effectively to this upcoming hurricane season.
Beginning next week Mission 6, we will return on to the impacted remote areas to provide for those still living in the dark and without access to clean water. We look forward to welcoming @mcqueen_rob, @jorgegquintana, @aydin_vim and @mas_sordos the newest additions of our frontlines and with one goal in mind so that together we can be greater.
Our Frontlines team consists of those individuals working at the core of the mission. They can be found on the ground or behind-the-scenes.
Whether on the ground or building the A-Team, Angela works to ensure productivity, efficiency and effectiveness during each of our six missions to PR.
Adriana was the first to volunteer on our initial disaster-recovery (mission one) in PR, ensuring that the work on the front-end had been accounted for on the back-end.
Ground members are crucial to the success of each mission. Edwin and Sel have navigated over 2 dozen regions of Puerto Rico searching for Deaf/HH individuals and facilitating disaster-relief supplies.
